Being onstage !!

Have you ever stood on a stage, looked at the audience, and felt your heart race faster than your words could form? I have… and looking back, I am grateful for every moment of it. Thanks to my school, my teachers, my friends, and my family, I grew up in an environment where performing wasn’t just encouraged, it was celebrated.

In school, our annual social gatherings were the highlight of the year. They gave children like me the chance to explore various forms of performance, songs, folk dances, one-act plays, and little skits filled with laughter and learning. These moments didn’t just teach me to read; they taught me to read aloud, to express, to reach people, and to share the joy of learning with confidence.

My college days took this experience a step further. That’s where I encountered theatre up close… raw, powerful, and honest. Being part of onstage and backstage work made me truly understand the reality of stage fright. I learned about the energy a performer feels, the invisible wall between the stage and the crowd, and the indescribable rush of breaking that wall.

Performing arts is a tricky art. You never really know if you’re doing it right or wrong, good or bad; until you actually perform.

And that’s the paradox: the stage is a place where we willingly step into a space of judgment, yet it is also the place where we grow the most.

Whether it’s delivering a speech, acting in a play, or simply reading aloud in front of others, everyone should try performing once in a while. It helps us develop confidence, clarity, emotional strength, and a deeper understanding of ourselves.

So if you ever get a chance to perform, take it. The stage doesn’t just build performers, it builds people.
