Was today typical?

In Maharastra, the period from Ashadha Shukla Ekadashi to Kartik Shukla Ekadashi is considered holy period. This lasts around four months, from mid-July to mid-October.

It is believed that Lord Vishnu enters a yogic sleep (Yoga Nidra) during these months. A time for heightened spiritual activities like vrata (fasting), japa (chanting), seva (service), satsang (spiritual gatherings), and pilgrimage.

It is believed that penance and good deeds performed during Chaturmas yield manifold benefits.

They create a structured time for self-discipline and inner cleansing. Encourage people to connect with nature, avoid over-indulgence, and follow a healthy lifestyle. Believed to remove negativity and bring peace, prosperity, and divine blessings.

My resolution this time is to read Bhagavad Gita – Chapter 12, (भगवद् गीता – अध्याय १२ – भक्तियोग).

The Bhagavad Gita is a sacred scripture of Hinduism, part of the great epic Mahabharata. It is a conversation between Lord Krishna and Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. When Arjuna is confused and distressed about fighting his own relatives, Lord Krishna guides him with teachings about dharma (duty), karma (action), bhakti (devotion) and the path to liberation. It consists of 18 chapters (Adhyayas) with 700 verses. It is considered a universal guide to life.

This chapter focuses on Bhakti (devotion) as the highest path to reach God. Arjuna asks Krishna which is better: worshipping the formless (nirguna) or the personal form (saguna) of God.

Krishna explains, both paths lead to Him, but devotion to the personal form (with love and surrender) is easier for most people. A true devotee is free from ego, envy, and hatred, is kind to all, forgiving, and content with whatever comes.

First two verses are as follows,

A bit for devotion…bit for memory…time for peace of mind and positivity
